THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER
by Barbara Robinson

Directed by Autumn Browne

Cypress Civic Theatre

November 30 - December 18, 2007

What a lovely way to breeze into the holidays! It was such fun to work on this production, and it has been truly a family affair -- moms and kids, brothers and sisters, friends all working together! I was thrilled to be able to cast several of my present, former, and future Brookhurst Junior High School Drama students in the cast.

This play is about six very unruly children who bring a fresh take on an age-old story. The Herdmans cuss, they smoke, they torture animals and people, and that was just backstage! Can they teach us about the true meaning of Christmas? Well, it is Christmas Eve and miracles do happen!

Dinner time                                                The Herdmans!

"And, Imogene... you know Mary didn't wear earrings."

"Now put the doll back!"

We broke up the play to allow for an intermission. The first act ended with a freeze as Mrs. Bradley yells "fifteen minutes!" The second act began with the same freeze as Beth does her monologue, then a riot broke out when Mrs. McCarthy yelled "Fire!"
